MATCHES AT PALMERSTOX. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Pnlmerston North, Last Xight. The match between, Traeey (!).l:i), light-weight champion of Xew Zealand, and Eollo (1(1.0), champion of Australia, was fought to-night. The contest went the whole fifteen rounds of tluvc minutes. The verdict wont to Traeey on points, after a good exhibition of quick, clever boxing. Traeey was very aggressive, and did most of the lcad'u-g throughout, Hollo showed wonderfully clever and tricky defence, avoiding punishment in masterly fashion, but it wi'.s more of a negative illustration, as lie failed to in diet punishment. In the amateur heavy-weight contest between McDowell (Manawatu) and Hale (champion of Wellington) the latter easilv won on. a live-round contest.
Watehorn (Manawatu. fl.U'/i.) beat Lovegrovo (Taranaki, f1.13) after a firstrate fight for the full six rounds, the winner getting tlic verdict on points. The Opera House was packed to the door, and Mr. f. Fake acted as referee, giving every satisfaction.
