ENTERTAINMENTS.
WIIITELEY ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY
The first annual concert to be given by the Wnitwley. Orchestral Society takes place on Thursday evening. A very interesting programme has been prepared. The music, of Rossini is represented hv selections from "Guillaume Tell" and" "Taneredi." From the works of Mendelssohn are selected several of his celebrated "Licder Ohne Wortc" •there will also be excerpts from the works of Wagner, Verdi, Balfe, Aubcr, and Donizetti. Vocal items will be given by some of the best local talent. There will be musical novelties in the wav of a quartette for strings from Mozart, and a cornet solo with full orchestral accompaniment. The latter was specially composed for and played wi:h great success by .lules Levy, the celebrated coniettist, who travelled Europe, America, and the colonies. We may here state that the profits will go to the funds of the society to provide music and the, wherewithal to carry o-i the work of promoting orchestral music for the instruction of the members and the entertainment and benefit of tne public.
