A WRONG IMPRESSION.
COl'Vl'V COC'XCILLOKS* MISTAKE. The Taranaki Countv (w..ctl on ilu'iday discussed the Jilatorincss of a firm of sawmi'l proprietors in paying the tii»bci levy or tax imposed for carting on the county roads, and a resolution was passed, on the motion of the chairman and Cr. Stevens, -That -Messrs. I. ■I. Patterson, and 11. Jlrown and Co. lie wniesled to pay tiinbcr levy —an amount as supplied by .Mr. K. A. Edo otherwise this Council will take steps to stop tlu- trallic." We are informed that .Messrs. llenn Drown and Co. are not interested in the sawmill. The misconception probab ;• arose from the fact that the linn's name was mentioned in the application for a tramway license for the sawmill at Koru. Hut the negotiations then pending were not completed, and MesM'-. Brown and Co. have nothing to do with the mill and no liability to the Coumil or anyone else in this connection. It is but fair to the iirni to make this correction immediately upon the facts being brought to our notice.
