THE MAORI KING.
SPLIT IX HIS " CABINET." by Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last. Night. Evidently there lias been a split in the native "cabinet," of which "King" Muhuta continues to be the nominal head. The points in dispute have not been made public though at a meeting held recently at Waalii the result is apparent in,the following notice wliica was nanded to the Tress for publication, and which bears the imprimatur of OUuriri, minister for /the Waikato district: "All the people of New Zealand should understand that Tupu Taingakawa, son of Tamehana Te Walliaroa Tarapipipi, is struck out of King Mahuta's Government." Taingakawa has acted as King Manilla's Premier for some years, and as such presided over t'lie great native meeting held at Waahi last year, as well as at the meeting held at WahaVoa and attended by the llovernor, the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward),and the .Native -Minister (Hon. ,C' Carroll). It remains to be seen whether the Warwick of Maori politics will now join tile Arawas and otlhers wdio refuse to acknowledge the sovereignty of the' native King.
