ALLEGATION'S AUAIXST JOEL. London, July 2S. The trial of Robert Sievier, eoitor of the Winning Post, on the Aarge of blackmailing J. B. Joel, has begun before Lord Alverstoue at the Old liailey. Mr. Rnfus Isaacs, K.C., counsel for defendant, searchingly cross-examined Joel. He mentioned the allegation that Joel had offered Mr. Markham, ■member of the House of Commons, £IO,OOO in 1002 to suppress a question in tllie House relating to Joel's connection with the Imperial Cold Storage Co. and the Army meat contracts.
