THE WAIRAIIAPA SEASON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. 11ns football season iu the Wairarupa, with the exception of two or thr:e representative matches, has closed. Cartel ton has won the senior competition ot the Wairarapa Rugby Union, with lied Star lunners-up. The junior competition has been won by Red Star, a ill the third-class championship by Rel Star.
I THE ENGLISH FOOTBALLERS. ' The Wangnmii ChrolHelc states that Jackett and McEvedy purpose returniir' to New Zealand after the Australian tour, the former to take up a position offered to him in the Tourist Department, and Dr. MeEvedy to settle anil practise his profession in the North Island.
Harding, who received a severe iujury to his heart and had two ribs injured immediately after'the kiek-oIV in the iinal test on Saturday, recovered sufficiently to depart for Sydnev with the I rest of the team by the Victoria. Gibbs, who burst three blood-vessr.ls in his leg hi the match against Taranaki, and who, it was thought, would not play again <hi the tour, lias made a wonderful recovery, and anticipates being able to take the tield ill three or four weeks. J. L. Williams, the Welsh international, who had his shoulder badly injured against Taranaki, is also improving, and will probably be able to phv in Sydney. All the other members of the team are fine and well.
