HEAVY MUD ERUPTION.

AT WAIMATA MUD SPRINGS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, Tuesday. A heavy eruption occurred at Waimala mud springß, 20' miles from Gisborne, laßt Saturday. It lasted over half an hour and caused some uneasiness. The material thrown up was ft bluish clay, It filled up a creek 40ft' in depth and covered, about six acucS of ground. The mud is not .warm. About five years ago there was nin> eruption, and other before that. The pressure of gas seems to lie increasing. These springs are considered to have n bearing on the location of the petroleum field.
