POULTRY SHOW.

At the, Xew Plymouth Poultry Show Op tor host Orpington cockerel or pullet, any color, for exhibitors in laianaki district only, was awarded to J. E. Co well's (Hawera) black cockerel. The Society's champion challenge trophy, value £ll 3s, for best cockerel or pullet in the show was awarded the same exhibit, Messrs. Sargood, Son and hwon s challenge special for best bird of opposite sex was won by Mr. (J. F-. •). Kvans, of Wanganui, White Leghorn hen. The Society's challenge trophy for beat canary was won by Mr. S. BrWcs. Mr. Brooks having won the latter trophy last year, it now becomes his property. The North Island championship for Tumbler pigeons went to Mr. C. Dixon, of New Plymouth. The championship awards for Indian game and Minorcas were awarded to Messrs. H. V. Duignan and J. Bennett under protest on the ground that the birds were not of suflicunit merit to warrant championship honors. The matter will have to be referred to the N.I.P.A. for final decision. If there is no provision in the rules of the Association dealing with birds of insufficient merit being awarded eham- ! pionslxip cards then the awards will hold ; good. The special for best working | homer in the show was awarded to a lien | exhibited by Mr. 11. J. Moverley, Mr. W. Boulton securing the speeial for \)ost working homer of opposite sex. . The Poultry Society's art union was not drawn on Saturday night, owing to Ihe agents not having returned their blocks and unsold tickets to the secretary. The attendance on Saturday was good. There was a good display of pr»ts of various kinds, from a nimble monkey right up through the cat. poultry, and other tribes to a beautiful blue voan cocker spaniel (the prize-winnor) shown by Mr. Crisp, and declared bv a competent judge to lie fit for any showing.
