STATEMENT BY THE PREMIER. (From Our Own Correspondent). ' Wellington, Last Night. 1 In the House of Representatives this 1 afternoon (lie Premier stated he luul received a cablegram from the Hon. \V. I'. Reeves, High Commissioner, stating that he had accepted the position or Director of the London School of Economics, and would therefore have !o resign his position as High Commissioner as from Octolier next. Under these circumstances, it would be necessary for a successor to proceed to London to take up the position. The matter was important, and would require careful consideration. lie proposed to make a statement to the House before the end of the session, and to ask the House to place on record its appreciation of the services rendered to the Dominion by Jlv. Reeves. 'The Hon. W. P. Reeves was recently 1 re-appointed High Commissioner for New Zealand, the appointment being for a further period of three years from June 14 last. The London School o.f-' Economies and Political Science was es- : tnblished in 1895 to provide special " courses of training suited to the needs of -business men, civil and municipal . servants, journalists, etc.; it also makes provision in connection with the British Library of Political Science for research in Economics of Political Science by provision of courses of lccn twos on'methods of investigation and 3 by the award of studentships. Th«': t School prepares students for the dcgrees of B.Sc. and D.Sc., London.
