Fnrlv in the first spell O'keary (Wairarapa) placed a goal from a mark. This was almmt immediately followed by Carlton, for South Canterbury, doing ditto from a loose rush. Mckenzie, failed to stop Carlton, who scored under the posts, Spiliane easily converted. The visitors then pressed hard. Adams. Russell, and O'Lcary passing well and the latter getting across. He just failed to convert. The second spell was stubbornly contested, and there was no further score till just on time, when Robertson, charging down, a kick by MeKenzic, crossed the line near the cornel'. Carlton made a poor attempt at goal. The game was a particularly pleasant one.
