LONDON WOOL, SALES. London, July 20. The wool sales are animated. Prices for all sorts are 5 per cent, above the opening rates. American buyers arc keen.

The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, duly IS, says: The mutton market is dull, the supply exceeding the demand. North island mutton is quoted at 3%d, Canterbury 4d, ISivcr I'lute 3'/ 4 d. Lamb.—The market is very linn, with a good demand for all brands. NewZealand lamb is quoted at 5%d for | Canterbury, and s'/ 2 d for other than Canterbury brands.
Beef.—The market is quiet with less demand. Hind-quarters arc quoted at. :!%d, lore-quarters i%A. Butter.—The market is very firm wi'.b a general and active demand. No Xew Zealand butter is oil'ering. Danish is. quoted at 1225, Siberian 10!)s, Canadian litis.
Cheese.—The market is (lull, Buyers are holding back expecting prions to gj lower. White makes are quoted at 02s coloured 58s.
Hemp—The market is dull. Goodfair grade is quoted at £2ll 10s, fangrade £23 10s, fair current .Manila £22. July to September shipments (good-fair grade) £2(i, fair grade £23 10s. The wool market is firm at an advance. Bradford tops are quoted Id higher than last week.
E. GRIFFITHS AND CO.'S DAIRY '. I'RODUCE KEI'OKT. i Messrs. E. tirilliths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report' : from their Ivondon principals. Messrs. Mills and Sparrow, dated 12th June, 1008: Weather continues very favorable tur dairying, "and the meadows at the momciit are in splendid order. If-present conditions continue there should be an abundant hay crop.. Butter.—Danish: Quotation has been advanced 2 kroner. In the course of a few days we. expect to hear of the tinners buying, which will lessen the quantity for this market. Silurian: Bather more liberal supplies are reported as coming to hand, but it is most tlillicult to get any reliable information from the various districts in Russia. Quality of late arrivals is only just passable, and but for the general scarcity of butter, much lower prices would have to be taken. French: Up to time of writing there is no change, but it is fully expected that an advance will take place. Shippers report that all butters are being shipped up closely, and that there are none, up to the present held back. Irish: The finest creamery butters have been pleasing, but many of the secondary grades arc very weedy and indifferent in flavor. Australian: Butters ex s.s. Somerset are to hand, and some of the factories open up in line} order, while a few show signs of having been affected by the beat. Agents are very firm in price, and buyers are holdinrr'oir as long as possible, but they have no" stocks to fall back on. Xew Zealand:. There is nothing ottering, none bavin" been held over in store. ■ Cheese.—A slightly better feeling; this applies to both Canadian and New Zealand. White of latter make still commands (plite a premium over colored, although the latter is in better demand.
