HOSPITAL BOARD.
At the monthly meeting yesterday of the Hospital Hoard there were present: Messrs. F. C. liclh'iuger (chairman), G, Browne, Jas. Burgess, 0. Andrews, J. 11. Hill, J. Brown, C. 6'Sullivan, and J). 11. McDonald.
ill*. A. E. I'arrar, manager of the | Old People's Home, reported that during the month there had been three admissions, one departure, and one death. The general health of the inmates had been affected by inllucnza, Discipline was good, with the exception of four mall? inmates, whose cases had been dealt willi by the chairman. The drying stove in the laundry was giving every satisfaction. There were now in the Home 31 inmates.—Report received. Dr. Leatham notified that at the recent State examinations five of the New Plymouth nurses had passed. Three of these were now qualified nurses, and entitled to be placed on the stall" for six months' approval. He recommended the appointment of Nurses Sislcv and Turner to the staff. Nurse Short, u'iio was entitled to the same promotion, h;td resigned—The recommendation was accepted.
ft'was reported that at a meeting of delegates representing Taranaki, Stratford and Ilawera Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards it was agreed that ill the event-of patients going either from Stratford or Hawera Hospital ami Charitable Aid Districts to the Taranaki Hospital, or vice versa, the charge to the Boards liable for the patients ' should he six shillings per diem, exclusive of extra medical fees required; (2) for consumptives seeking accommodation at the Taranaki annexe the actual cost of maintenance; (3) for inmates of the Old People's Home, New Plymouth, 12s per week; also that, in the event of its being decided that it' was necessary to erect a chronic or incurable ward in connection with the Old People's Home at New Plymouth, the Stratford and Ilawera Boards should
lie prepared to pay a" proportionate share of the expenses of the erection of such an institution, and the bare cost
of maintenance free, when once that institution was erected, of any cases from
their respective districts; that in the case of a charitable aid recipient who was an inmate of tlie Old Peoples Home, New Plymouth, leaving that institution, from which such inmate came should the Hospital or Charitable Aid Board be liable for his or her maintenance for eighteen months, exclusive of the time of residence in the Home notwithstanding anything in the Act to the contrary. Correspondence from the Stratford and Hawera Boards was received, and the whole question referred to a committee for consideration. The Treasury forward subsidy amounting to £245 18s lid.
