He military veterans outside the Veteran's Association are disappointed at the inaction of the Government with regard to issuing them free railway passes to attend the fleet celebrations. The matter will probably be brought up in Parliament. THE TUSSLE BETWEEN YELLOW AND WHITE. THE PREMIER'S VIEWS. Wellington, Last Night. Sir Joseph Ward stated to-night that) the whole cost of entertaining the American fleet would be about 1 '/id per head of the population. The estimated Teturn, not from the visitors, but from j people of this country through their use of the public services, was lid pnr Jiead of the population, at the lowest estimate. They could not forget that this great Power, with a great fleet, was on friendly terms with Britain and spent something like £50,000,000 in trade with the United Kingdom. The day would come when there would be a light, probably in. the Pacific, between the white races and those of the East for supremacy in these waters. When that fight took place the Old World could have the assistance of the American fleet, and they would find them fighting shoulder to shoulder to preserve to future generations the rights and privileges of all classes.
