PLENTY OF WORK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. .Wellington, Last Night. ' Referring to-night to the reported lack of employment in some parts of the Dominion, Sir Joseph Ward saio, the Government had a large amount of work in different portions of the land and every man who wanted work legitimately could be employed. There were many other avenues ot employment.
UNEMPLOYED IN CHRISTCHURCH. .Christchurch, Last Night. The fine weather experienced to-day resulted in the resumption of work on the buildings in course of erection in tiie city and suburbs, and consequently many laborers who have been out of work during ,thc spell of wet weather resumed work to-day. At any rate, the Labor Bureau was not rushed to-daiy wit'h applicants for work on the .Midland railway line. Up to this afternoon, eight men had signified their intention of accepting work on the railway works. In all, fifteen persons, including applicants who were not general laborers, applied for work at the Burciiu.
Christchurch, filter. At the meeting of the City Council, to-night it was resolved to grant £200) for the purpose of relieving the uncin- ( ployed difficulty and to request the Go-' vernment to grant a £1 for ill subsidy on that sum.
