THE NEW RIDING PROPOSAL
KOAD BOARDS OBJECT. A meeting of Koad Boards in the Omnia Riding, into which il is believe! the Erankluy, Elliot;, and Carring|co>i ua d Boards will be merged under the new scheme, was held iu Ihe Oinata Koad Board's Oilice on Saturday. There were prcseut—ilcssrs. tileulii'll (Mangorei), Clemow (Oiuata), llamblyu (Jlurloi'd), Morris (Oakura), Oxenhai.i (T'ataraimaka), (Jill (Okato), Mr. Bayl,-, and the secretary (.Mr. I). McAllu'm). The Waiwakaiho, Egmont, Barrett, and Werckino delegates were uua'ble to be present. The new proposals were discussed at great length, delegates being unanimously of opinion that the financial stability of the country portions of the Oinata Hiding would be seriously all'eeted if the proposed suburban districts weie included within their (Oniata's) boundaries. It was pointed out that there was no objection to the three Road Boards mentioned joining the county provided they were formed into a separate and additional riding. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Oxenham, seconded by Mr. Bayly, "That this meeting of delegates fio'm Koad Boards in tlie Omata Riding strongly protests against the margiiig of the Carringtoii, I'ranklcy, and Elliot Rond Boards into the Omata Riding." The question of presenting a petition to the County Council 011 the question was discussed, but action was deferreil, it being pointed out that the County Council was not likely 10 risk matters in opposition to the almost unanimous i wishes of Ihe Omata ratepayers. it was decided that a deputation of delegates from all the Koad Boards.in the Omata Riding wait 011 the County Council at its next meeting, 3rd "August, at i p.m., and confer with the Council 011 the matter. (Moved by Mr. Morris, seconded.by Mr. Oxeuliam.)
