CATTLE-DRIVINE IN IRELAND.

Mr. Justice Ross, speaking at the Land Judges' Court at Dublin, Mid. the widespread official ''neglect of precautions to prevent cattle-driving was ho' marked that the. olfenders themselves, like the suu'erers, believed cattle-driving had the official approval. Leniency beyond all reason had been attempted,' and this was interpreted as imbecility, cowardice, and connivance. The reports of officials throughout the country showed that the spirit of violence and lawlessuesK was increasing daily. The plain remedy under the statute, law was in the hands of the. authorities, and must lie applied.
