STRANDED STEAMER REFLOATED.
v KOMK EXCITINC INCIDENTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. T'he steamer Aloa, which went ushoru at CastleclilV on the litli inst, was brought up the river safely to-night l . After a series of exciting incidents, she was hauled off the beach at noon today, and the lighter Shamrock began to tow her into the river when the t(aw'. line carried away. She then drifted into dangerous proximity to the -spit, when she managed to drop an anchor, to which she rode till to-night, when a leak commenced. The water rose until tho fires were extinguished, and as Hie vessel was minus propellor, rudder or pumps, her position was serious, especially as a heavy sea was running. The Harbor Hoard's tug Togo went to the rescue, and after an exciting time brought the steamer into the river, where she was run on a mud bank in order that repairs may be made.
