COST OF A DEAD COW.

No subject connected with the management of cows is of more vital importance to Hie, dairy farmer than the prevention of disease in his herds. Unless cows are healthy they cannot prove profitable; generally under other conditions they will prove a dead loss. The percentage of cows that die at calving-tiiue. from milk fever is considerable, mid causes of abortion are so frequent as to cause a big drain on the farmer's income. Mow, perhaps none of your cows have contracted milk fever. That is not to say that they will always escape. Bemember, it is 100 late to lock the stable door after the horse has gone; too late, to insure your house after it. has lieen burnt down. Too late, to buy "Sykcs's Drench" nftor your £lO cow is dead.

"The cost of a dead cow" would pay for enough "Sykcs's Drench" for the whole herd for years. That's the point. Just think! Reason with yourself. My proposition is this:—You can drench each cow with "Sykcs's Drench" (before and after calving) at a cost of Is 4d. (Each packet contains two doses) Say a cow is worth from £G to £8; suppose you neglect to treat your cows and lose only one this year, or, say, one in two years— this is a very low estimate. If a packet of "Sykcs's Drench" will save that cow, are you justified in not using it, ~,'•,., I want you to use "Sykes's Drench this season. Buy it by the dozen; it's cheaper. Use it strictly in accordance with the directions on each package. Drench each cow before and after calving. Use. it intelligently, with the determination of proving for yourself its value. Thousands of intelligent farmers use "Sykes's Drench." Surely there must be'good reasons for it. 1 can show you thousands of testimonials— the original ones—from all parts of the Dominion ' and Australia.—A. E. Sykcs, Chemist, New Plymouth—Advt.
