ANTWERP WOOL SALES. Antwerp, July 12. The autumn wool sales closed more animated with a further rise in |)i'i»f. The rise totalled 15 per cent, for merinos, aud 20 per cent, for crossbred*. Of La Plata wool 7837 bales were offered and 5211 sold at auction and 1682 privately.

BROKEN HILL PROFITS. London. July 12, The report of the Broken' Hill South Blocks mine • shows £2f1,233 profits. After expenses are met and the value or the plant written down, a credit balance of £4877 is left.

As no stock is accumulating the prospects for next season arc encouraging. Choicest New Zealand brands are quoted at 115s, Danish 119s, Siberian 10i)s, Canadian 115s. Cheese —The market is rather quiet. White makes are quoted at (Us, colored 58s. Hemp—The market is depressed an.l transactions are light. Heavy shipments are expected from Manila. The stock held in London amounts to 708 tons. Following are current quotations: Good fair grade on the spot £27, fair grade on the spot £23 15s, fair current Manila on the spot £23. July to September shipments: Good fair grade £2') 10s, fair grade £24, fair current Manila £23 10s.

Hops—The market continues dull. The English crop promises well. During the month o£ June the following shipments arrived from River Plate: —Mutton: London 178,080. Liverpool 180,902. Hull 9037. Newcastle BUO.I, Cardiff 40911, Southampton l.jllti. Lamb: London 24.530, Liverpool 30,77-). Hull nil; Newcastle 494, Cardiff 3111, Southampton 230.

LONDON MARKET KKI'OKTS. Dalgcty & Co., Limited, Wellington, have received the following cable massages from their London house', under date of the'flth inst.:— Butter.—Market firm. The Copenhagen official quotation is 3 kroners about 3-i 4'/.d per Cwt. higher. The total imports of butter into (he United Kingdom for week ending 4th inst. amounted to 93,0(10 cwt. as compared with 84,000 cwt. for the corresponding week of 1907, showing an increase of 9000 cwt. Prices for Australian and New Zealand butter are unchanged. The course of prices in the near future depends upon the weather here, (iood prices are, however, expected during October and November. Frozen meat.—Beef: Since our last advices prices are %d to \' A A per lb. lower. Other descriptions are unchanged. Tallow.—Since our last telegram prime, mutton tallow is unchanged.; Other descriptions are 6d per cwt. higher.'
