METHODIST CHURCH.
The (piarterly meeting of the Inglewood circuit wa* held in the Jnglewood Methodist Church on Thursday (says tinRecord). The chairman (Rev, K. J). Patchett) reported the absence of Mr. J. Everett through ill-health, and a le:ter of sympathy was directed to be sent to him. The examination of Messrs. 11. Everett and K. Baigent as candidates for the status of local preachers was postponed fill the September ipiarterly meeling. The balance-shcvt showed a >niall credit, the receipts being £55 r 7s 2d anl ; tin* expenditure £55 2* fid. This result' wa.s considered highly satisfactory for one of the wintfr ipiarters. Kprei»l| mention was made of the inciva-ed i.icunie from the Waipuku Church, the co. b'ctions amounting to £l4 8s Pd for three months.
1 It was decided to invite the Rev. A. B. Chappell, M.A.. organising secretary for the Bible Class Movement, to the circuit during the next three monthfor a week's mission. Collections on b-.»-half of the Foreign Minion Eunrt wenauthorised tor the Jirst Sunday in August; and it was announced that the Rev. A. Ballantyne. of Xew Guinea, would visit the circuit as a deputation ou the 22nd -July.
following the ijuarterly meeting, a tea was held in the schoolroom, u good company gathcriug to partake of tlr dainties provided by the ladies of the congregation. The concert in the church was fairly well attended and an excellent programme was delivered.
