The Premier (.Sir Wilfrid Luurier) moved in the Dominion House of CoinliioHs u resolution to the effect that it is desirable, with all convenient speed, to tukc steps to carry into effect **» Inipcrial - CWiuwrceYi decision concerning the AH Ui'd route. The resolution affirmed Canada's willingness to assume a fair share of the burden of establishing aud maintaining an All Hed service, and hoped that Australia and New Zealand would co-operate with Canada ra arranging a definite plan. In moving the resolution, Sir \\ ilf rid said it might not be advisable to subsidise steamers as large as the Mauritania, but a fleet with a speed of from 20 to 21 knots was necessary in the Atlantic, and 18 to 20 knots in the Pacific. Mr Foster, a former Financial Minister, complained that there were no commercial reasons given to warrant the expenditure of a million dollars a year for a decade. Besides, New Zealand re•Hired a 13-day and not a 10-day service,
Mr. Harden moved an amendment expressing sympathy with the object Of the resolution, but declaring that the essential features in regard to cold storage and cheap rates, bo submitted to Parliament.
Mr. Lifton declared the project could not be carried into effect under five years. In regard to the required subsidy, the British Government, lie said, was awaiting the action of the colonics. Mr, Lifton believed a 24-knot Atlantic service and 20-knot Pacific service ' would satisfy Australia and New Zea- ' land.
