At a meeting of the Ardmorc residents held to consider resolutions submitted by the Ucvedon branch oil tii& Farmers' Union with regard to the formation of u fanners' party in Parliament, Captain Colbeck, vice-president of the Clevcndoii branch, delivered an address, and a petition signed by a considerable number of farmers has been forwarded to the Union executive at Wellington requesting the immediate formation of a farmers' party in Parliament. Petitions lo the same effect have been issued by the provincial executive to (MO branches of (he Union in all parts of the Dominion. The resolutions advanced by the Clevedon branch comprised the following planks:—Taxation for revenue purposes only; optional tenure of land; ratepayer's only to be empowered to vote on local government matters in county councils, road boards, and rural districts.
