The map whereon the Anglo-Congolese Convention, of 1894 was based placed the thirteenth meridian, forming the frontier, go nules west o[ the true position, hence a strip 120 miles long supposed tq be British is now provisionally regarded, tut neutral.
Britain upholds the convention. Should the strip be added to Congo territory, would. ,be deprived "of access to Lake Albert Edward. The same report mentions considerable activity on the Kilo goldllelds inside the Congo border, which is being largely worked by Australians. The first two lots of gold obtained weru valued at £70,000 sterling.
