The sixth competition for Mrs. Millar's trophy (silver teapot) was fired for at the range on Saturday last. There were thirteen competitors.' .Mr. M. The ladies' ball, held on Wednesday evening, was a great success. The night was fairly line and the hall was crowded to the doors. Over two hundred were presenl. Visitors tame from as Jar down the coast as Manaia. There were seventeen ~cts on the lloor at once, which was a record for the place. The hall was nicely decorated wilh nekau palms and white eamelias and looked very cll'celivc. The music, which was excellent, was supplied Ijy .Miss Loveridge, of N'ew Plymouth. ' At midnight a splendid supper was provided. The ladies in charge of the tallies were Mesdamcs Larking. Millar Clothier. Wells, Judge and others. Dancing was kept going until early on Thursday morning. The extra dances were plaveil by Miss IT. Francis. Mr. T. K. Larking carried out the duties of M.O. in his usual manner. It is to lie hoped that when (lie bachelors' ball comes oil' it will be as successful as the ladies. The factory will must likely be running again next week, when (lie holier should he repaired.'
