THE FLAX I.MH'SIKY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The output of hemp for tlic last six months, as indicated by the quantity passing through the local grading stores, shows a great falling-off, particularly for the last quarter. The figures for tho six months were 3030 tons, as against 0335 tons for the corresponding period of last year.
FALSE PRETENCES. Dunedm, Last Night. At the Citv Police Court to-day, Robert Mckenzie pleaded guilty to charges of obtaining CI froin Donald Iteid anilCo., and £1 from fitronach, Morris and Son, both stock andj-taTTon agents, by false pretences; and with attempting to obtain £1 from ,T. F. Mollison by similar means. The evidence showed that accused, who represented himself as a farmer, rang up the persons named and asked them to advance money to an employee to enable him to return home, ; and subsequently proceeding to the | lira'.- places of business and representing himself as the employee. Accused was committed for sentence.
