I Received Ist, 11.2 p.m. I Brisbane, June 1. The Maori professionals beat Queens I land by 13 to'O. • The game was vei.J r willing,, exciting and evenly played. '!>- first half ended: Queensland 5 (a converted try by Dore), the Maoris nil. In the second half the Maoris made the ': pace ivot and kept Queensland strictly on tile defence, giving no chance to add to their score. Asher scored two triesi and Tuki one try, two of which weflp' converted.

The football match between Britain and Hawke's Bay was played in t(«j' Recreation, Urouiid this afternoon under conditions which were in every respect favorable to the contestants, and was won by the visitors by 23 points to 3. The ground was in 'excellent order. There was good light, and the 'wind was not of any moment. The crowd was estimated at about UOOO. The teams were as follows: Britain.—Full-back, Dyke; tli,ec-c|u:ir ters, J. L. Williams, J. P. Jones, Tuai, Jones, and Chapman; half-back*, Laxon and (i. h. Williams; forwards. In the early part of the first spcli play was for the most part on Britain's side of half-way, but the visitors were evidently keeping themselves well in hand. Smith, Kcnyon, Baker and 11clntyre, of Hawke's Bay, engaged in a passing rush, and Jlclntyrc kicked Out near Britain's line. The English iorwards came to the rescue and Oldham, Jack Williams and Morgan carried plav well inside Hawke's Bay's 25. From the throw-in Laxon obtained and gave a kmg pass to Tuan Jones. He aodged and transferred to Ponty Jcncs, wuo scored near the corner about 12 minutes before half-time. Dyke was unsuccessful with the kick at goal. Immediately afterwards the English forwards initiated a dabbling rush, and Kitson scored near the corner, Harding kicking a good goal. Another British rush saw Symes score. His career was stopped when danger was imminent and Hawke's Bay were awarded a free kick. .Symes took the kick but failed by a few inches. Hawke's Bav made another onslaught, headed b'v Smith, but Dyke marked at a critical stage. The ball was returned to Smil.i. who kicked across the field. only score. The British backs once more returned to the attack and in an excellent passing ,ush between Tuaii Jones and Edgar Morgan resulted in tiic latter scoring between the posts. Jlorgan failed with the kick. Immediately after Ponty Jones, .Morgan and Smith? executed another rush, and Smith crossed. Harding made an unsuccessful kick at goal. Hawke's Bay retaliated with a rush and were awarded a free kick at quarter way. Waislie made an attempt at goal, but the kick was smothered, and Chapman, with a long line-kick, put Hawke's Bay on the defensive. Dyke obtained the leather and ran through. the opposition. He passed to Mem" Williams, the latter running across. Harding failed with the kick. Britain continued to press and from a throw-in Chapman obtained possession, and, beating Symes, scored between the posts. Symes converted. The game thus end" cd:
