KUBELuT IN WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—l'rcss Association. Wellington, Last Night. Kubelik, the famous violinist, openea a season of three nights at the Town Hall last evening. The audience was most enthusiastic, recalling the virtuoso again and again, and cheering llim at the conclusion of the concert.

ALLEGED BIGAMY. Auhhurton, Saturday Night. At the Police Court to-day, Charlotte Eliza Moraghan was charged with having contracted marriage with George Womacott at Ashburton on April 18. 1008, while her husband, .fames Stephen Moraghan, was alive, and the marriage of the accused to him had not been annulled. Accused, who pleaded not guilty, was, after evidence had been heard, committed for trial, bail being allowed.

PIKES. Dunedin, Last Night. The premises of the Drapery Supply Association in George street were discovered to be on lire about 5 O'clock this morning. The brigade arrived promptly, but considerable damage was done before the outbreak was extinguished. The lire apparently originated in the dressmaking department, the occupants of which ceased work at 1 p.m. on Saturday. It is estimated the damage ivill run into about £SOOO, probably caused to some extent by water. The stock was insured in the New Zealand office for £IO,OOO, and the buildings in the Norwich Union officp for £-1000. Tile total value of the stock and building is estimated at £25.000. INSPECTION OF MEAT. Dunedin, Last Night. A draft Bill is being prepared by the city solicitors embodying a piWpoSed amendment to the Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1000, to provide for a clearing house in the city for the inspection of carcases not slaughtered at the city abattoirs.
