RAHOTU. Building operations have been pretiy brisk lately tip the Xgariki Roa 1, Messrs. Turner C Beadle have just completed a handsome villa to the order of Mr. C. W. Field, whilst Mr. Mars Hill has also completed a nice tottaj;? on his own farm. Mr. Ren Hill is also contemplating building, and some ofthtimber is already on the site.
On Friday evening Sir. Mars Hill entertained a number of his friends at a ''house-warming'' at his new residence. Ngariki Road. The evening was a very rough one. Nevertheless, there wa* a large attendance, over 50 being present. Dancing was the popular amusement, to music provided by Mr. D. Duncan >;id Mr If. Young. During the evening son;:* were rendered by Mrs. Hill. Mi*s JJavvison. and Mr. P. Sole, recitation by Air. (i. Taylor, and step dance* by Mr. 1). Duncan. Refreshments were in abundance, and when going home tinr arrived about 3 a.m.. all retired voting the evening a most enjoyable one. ar.d Mr. Mar*. Hill an excellent host.

Oil Tuesday evening as Mr. Oiiaiulicrs. 1 lie well-known carrier, of Opunake, was returning linine with a waggon load if chaff he met with a slight accident. ]!<• was pulling oft the road a little tn avoid some new metal when the edge of the road slipped away owing t" the rei'"nt rain and his waggon capsized down a hank some four feet. There was ;l good attendance. The ladies' prize (a silver-mount-ed liiscuit barrel) was won hv Miss Dolicrty. The gentlemen's prize (a girth ami hil) was won liv Mr. r.entr after a. play-oil' with Mr. (i! Hopkins'. After supper was handed round the hall wis eleared for dancing, which was kept up till 1 a.m. Tlvivllent music was provided !..v Mrs. I.ciig and Mrs. Wright, while Mv. fielder made a capal.l,. M.C.
