At the Braybrouk inquest, Driver M'lburn, who repeatedly brake down, dopes ed that he tested tlie brakes when he took charge of the engines. They were in perfect order. Approaching the 'i-r----tant signal at Sun Shi- ilie speed was 50 miles, lie applied the brakes, whiii appeared to grip properly and reduced the jpeed to -W miles. 'Then the trait: jumped forward again, and he applied the emergency brakes, but they laden •« ■ct properly. Milbum denied using Mi.. word* after the accident.
