The secretary refuted that he had obtained a payment of til) from a ten-! ant who hud been causing the Hoard 1 some uneasiness. The ranger's report was adopted, and J the secretary instructed to take action. if necessary! The treasurer reported a lialanre of £1664 6s 2d. On the motion of Messrs Jennings and Major he was authorised to pay out £IOOO for primary education, £3O for secondary education, and to plaee £2OO on fixed deposit. It was resolved on the motion of Messrs Major and Fault that the application of Win. Crumby for a lease of section 3, block V., Miiiii S.D., 470 aires. at the upset rental of 5d per acre, be granted. It was decided to accede to the np plication of Mrs. Alice (iilmour for the acceptance of a surrender of her lease of section 582 and .583, New Plymouth, and the issue of two new leases in lieu thereof, one for each section, the rent to be £3 10s per annum on each. On the motion of Messrs. .lennings and Faull it was resolved that upon the usual conditions the seal of the Board 'should be affixed to consents to the transfers of the following leases: —Mrs. Alice Gilmour to T. M. Mackav, section 583, New Plymouth: J. H. Ford, jmir.. to Alf. Walker, section 10, block VII., Omona S.D.; .f. Kemp to (ieo. Rue, sections 517 and 510, New- .Plymouth; A. J. Cameron to .T. Zincher, section 18, block XV., Huiroa S.D.; T. Ryan to C. McGuinn. section KiO. block 1, Mahoe S.D. Subject to the usual conditions, eonsent was given to a sublease from .1. Dravitski to W. .T. Tavlor of section 50, block VI., Huiroa S.D.' Leave was given to Messrs A. (!.. S. 0., and G. S. Lnreon to transfer their sub-lease (from Mr. Riddiford's trustees) to Messrs, (J. A. 0. and S. O. I zircon. It was resolved that in compliance with the requests of F. E. Taylor, S.

Pitt and W. Taylor, Mr. (i. A. Marchant should be appointed the sole arbitrator for the purpose of the respective arbitrations to fix the yearly rental and to determine tlie value of the substantial permanent improvements in each case with a view to the renewal of the lease. Mr. Marchant was also appointed the Board's arbitrator l*tween the Commissioners on one side, and W. L. Kennedy and R. H. Cornwall and the executors of the late John Winks respectively.
