SUFFRAGETTES' DEMONSTRATION.
DEMAND FOR THE FRANCHISE. CONVINCING THE PREMIER. Received June 15, 1.1(1 a.m. London, June 14. Ten thousand women suffragists marched from Jxmdon 'Embankment to the Albert Hall with the object of convincing Mr. Asquith (the Premier) that educated women demand the franchise, the parties currying appropriate banners and bannerettes. The procession included sborthandwriters, typists, authors, artists, musicians, politicians, nurses, graduates ami undergraduates wearing caps and ■wwiis, also a party of colonials beneath a. banner inscrital "Trust the women, mother, as I have done." Lady Russell and Mesdames Alfred bvttelton and I'ember Reeves accompanied bv large crowds, watched m Hie vicinity if Albert Hall. Ixidv Henrv Somerset deprecated „ I( ,re 'militant' methods. Lady Francis Balfour declared that though Mr. a»„„ith was less favorable than the late Sir Henrv Campbell-Banncrman, he could be squeezed. "Let women," «ne said, "continue the peaceful process ft squeezing."
