WIIAKATIKAS v. RANK CLERKS.
On the Racecourse ground yesterday afternoon a large crowd witnessed a nialelt bdwoeii tine Wliakatikas and a team of hank- clerks styling themselves the "Toi-Tois." As 'a handicap the hitter played in skirts, and, contrary to expectations, some rf fliem showed great sprinting power, in spite of their unaccustomed attire. Sonic of tlii! skirts were pirtHilarlv brilliant, while the red leg covering of "Knstus" turn "Friday'' came in for no small amount! of admiration. The game, which was fast and inter-sting, ended J ill 'a victory lor the Toi-Tois by 4 goals |to 1. ]'<,r the winners, goals were scored hy Monk, (Irani. Ileditch and lleldt. while Miss Jlav McKwen notched | the only goal for Wliakatikas. The ladies played ii hard game, and, although milch lighter than their opponents, stood a good deal of bumping in splendid style, Misses McKwen, Smith, and I'enn being conspicuous for brilliant play. For Toi-Tois, McCord at hack played a slashing game, while Kastus and Friday in tlie forwards shone out •'on their own,'' the red stockings no doubt being responsible for their brilliant exhibition. Mr. Xicoll made an impartial referee, and Messrs. Clarke and 11. 0. Baker acted as umpires. Fortunately the services of the bruise-healer and the ambulance were not vei|ined. while the languagercstrainer found very little to do.
