AUCKLAND TOWN HALL.

A meeting of the Town Hall committee of the Auckland City Council -was held to-day for the purpose of opcniii" and discussing the tenders for the -pro" posed town hall. The follow-in* were the tcnders:-(l) For the whole°of the works, including stone elevation to the Queen street frontage and portion shown of Crcy street, but excluding the tower and terrace: Ferguson and "ualcolm (Auckland) £82,0811 18s- j' f Julian (Auckland), £82,(150; ,1 .)-,i,! (Adelaide), £03,432 7s Od; Mitch v -n-1 King (Wellington) £104,302; i2) for the whole of the works as before but substituting brickwork and cement dressings for stone front to the leaser hall and entrance to Queen street. It was pointed out that the increase in the tenders above the allocation was due, amongst other things, to the in - onter amount of accommodation provided in the building, increase in the price of labor and material, and the substitution of stone for the brick front. A further meeting of the committee will be held to-morrow to receive the recommendation of ihe city architect and engineer.
