A meeting of the Town Hall committee of the Auckland City Council -was held to-day for the purpose of opcniii" and discussing the tenders for the -pro" posed town hall. The follow-in* were the tcnders:-(l) For the whole°of the works, including stone elevation to the Queen street frontage and portion shown of Crcy street, but excluding the tower and terrace: Ferguson and "ualcolm (Auckland) £82,0811 18s- j' f Julian (Auckland), £82,(150; ,1 .)-,i,! (Adelaide), £03,432 7s Od; Mitch v -n-1 King (Wellington) £104,302; i2) for the whole of the works as before but substituting brickwork and cement dressings for stone front to the leaser hall and entrance to Queen street. Ferguson and Malcolm '£82,047 lis: ,! ;• Julian £Bl,. r >00; J. Jude £02::-', ||:i Sd; Mitchell and King £103,40:1; (;;) for cost of tower and front corner terrace: Ferguson and Malcolm '£4720 lisJ. It was pointed out that the increase in the tenders above the allocation was due, amongst other things, to the in - onter amount of accommodation provided in the building, increase in the price of labor and material, and the substitution of stone for the brick front. A further meeting of the committee will be held to-morrow to receive the recommendation of ihe city architect and engineer.
