IMPORTANT AUSTRALIAN CASE. I'KIVY COUNCIL'S DECISION*. Received Blh, 1.9 a.m. Sydney, June 7. The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council has delivered judgment in the «*«■ Macintosh v. Dunn, an appeal from a decision of the High Court of Australia. The case is one of the most ini|xirtaiit tried here. It involved the question of "privilege" in regard to the right of publication of certain mercantile reports to subscribers, in which were made statements as to plaintiff's Uumness. Defendant pleaded "privilege,'" "rat the Court gave plaintiff a verdict far £BOO. On appeal to the Full Court, the Court decided defendant was "privikged.'' An appeal to the High Court followed. This Court also held defendMt w»l '•privileged.'' ' The case then went to the Privy Council, with the reamlt that the original verdict in plaintiff's favor stands.
