The late -Lady MiieKenzie was the daughter of Mr. John Munro, a tenant farmer on the Novar Estate, GlenglasS, Kosshire, Scotland, where she was born. She was married to the late Sir John Mackenzie on 3rd May, 18(10, and on the same day she left Scotland with her husband, en route to New Zealand. She loaves two sons and three daughters, a fourth daughter having predeceased her, at the age of thirteen years. Mrs. M. P. Cameron, of Wellington, Mrs. Atkinson, of l'almerston North, and Miss Kate Mackenzie, 0 f l'almerston South, are the surviving daughters. The two sons, Messrs. John Munro MacKonzie and Duncan Alexander Mackenzie, me proprietors of the Bushy Park Estate. The new member for Tuapeka, Br. W. A. Chappie, was burn in Alexandra, OUgo, and received his primary education in tlic public school. He theu entered Olago University, where he studied for the medical profession. In. In 1802 he went to Wellington, where he has since resided. Dr. Chappie has interested himself in educational questions, and formerly was a member of tlic Victoria College!' Council. He is tlic author of a pamphlet entitled "Physical Education in Our State. Schools," and also, of a l,ook "The Fertility of the Unfit." The doctor made an unsuccessful attempt to enter Parliament via the Newtown (Wcllngtni) electorate at the last general election. Mr. C. .T.
