Mr. J. 0. Taylor, a well-known settler ot Taliora, Whangamomonii, is in town. Dr. Simpson, of Haw-era. lias been appointed junior medical ollicer at the Wellington Hospital. The death occurred at Fcathersion on Monday of Mr. Solomon O'Donovan, a well-known chemist of that town, aged 70 years. _ -Mr. Joseph Dixon, a settler of over fifty years' standing and it member of u family well known in the early history of Wellington, died at Bunny- | thorpe <m .Monday. The Key. It. 11. Manures 'died at (jakey, Queensland, a few days ago. The Brisbane Courier says that "Mr Manures, who was regarded as one of tile ablest of the younger Methodist ministers, had spent his ministerial life in Queensland, having come from Vic- I toria as a candidate for the ministry, and was ordained here. His father is one ot" the senior ministers in Victoria and his four brothers— who arc air* members of the ministry—are stationed in New Zealand.
