PATRONAGE OF AUCKLAND HOTELS

Per Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At a meeting of the Auckland Licensing Committee this afternoon, a letter was read by the chairman from Mr. H. Leckie, giving the results of a census taken by the Young Men's No-License League respecting thirty city hotels .Hatched on Saturday, April 25th, at between 8 and 10 p.m, showing that during the hours in question 10£® persons were seen to leave the hotels, 1M192 ofj these being men, of whom 7"> per cent. were young men, 450 women, and 80 children. The number of persons setj down as seen "decidedly intoxicated" during this period was £O4, the greater proportion being young men. I

Timaru, Tuesday. At the meeting of the Licensing 1 Committee police officers said there was tery little drinking in hotels among womb. There had been only five arrests of women during the year. Auckland, Tuesday. The police, reporting to the Auckland Licensing Committee, stated that the hotels here compared favorably with those in any of the southern centres and that there had been a diminution of drinking among women in the hotels.
