Paris, April 12. A mvsterious tragedy occurred last night at the residence of the Count and Countess Sylvain de Lnnct in the Rue Tlierese.

Tlu> Count was found shot through the heart in his bedroom, while the Countes* was dangerously wounded in the chest and leg. Two revolvers, which had evidently .just been used, were lying on the lloor, and there were several lulllet hole* in the walls. The Countess states that her hu-hand had shown signs of madness, ami recently bought two revolvers to protect himself from imaginary enemies. She was awakened in the dead oi night l>v a loud report, and saw her linsnaiul' pointing both revolvers at her. He shot at her twice while she was tryin" to escape, whereupon she snatched up" another revolver and in self-defence tired, killing her husband. Tlw fount, a man -of about fifty years of age. wa s ten years older than his wife, who before her marriage was Miss Helen Arvan. of Dublin. Their daughter, a girl of seventeen. l"ft them a few weeks ago to go to a boarding school iif England. Tin- Count earned a living by acting as an interpreter for foreign visitor*.
