ADVERTISING NEW PLYMOUTH.

A meeting of the eommittee appointed by the public meeting a week ago to take steps to add to the attractions and patronage of the New Plymouth beach was held in the Mayor's room last night. There were present:—His Worship the Mayor (Mr. G. Tisch), Messrs H. Stoeker, J. Clarke, A. Standis'n, A. E. Sykes, G. Bishop, and J. MeLeod. It was resolved to adopt the name of "The Seaside Improvement Committee.' His Worship the Mayor submitted plans of bungalow aucoininodalionhousen, by Messrs Messenger, and Sanderson and Griffiths, for perusal. The subject was discussed at length, and it was resolved to make an inspection of the beach with a new to determining suitable sites for houses and camps where not likely to iuterfere with the ultimate works of the Harbor Board. It is intended to later arrange a deputation of townspeople to urge on the , Hoard the advisability of meeting rei|nc«U for sites reasonably.

The secretary of the Amateur Opera tie Society wrote offering to produce the opera -'Dorothy'' on dates to suit the committee during the holidays. In tin? connection the chairman reported that dates had been pencilled from 30th to January 2nd, in anticipation of the committee 'requiring certain nights during the term.--C'onsideration of the matter was deferred pending the return of the secretary, Mr. A. Humphries, from Dunedin.
