Per Press Association. Invercargill, U»-t Night. A man named John Cotter, fisherman. •was drowned at Ruapukc Island on Tuesday, „nd the Iwdy brought over l'> the Bluff to-night. There are no details. THE OEO FATALITY. The in.|Uest eonivrning the late Arthur Percy Cooper, whose body was found on" Tuesday morning near the mouth of the Oeo river, near Opmiakc. with a bullet wound in the breast and a *hot gun lying by the side of the body. was held at the Oeo Hotel yesterday before Mr. A. McKeown. J.P.. acting coroner, and the following jury:—Messrs. A. E. Baylis, S. Campliell, .lohn Pettigrew, James Harrott, George llarrott and .1. I. Ross.
Evidence was given by Mr. Martin,' hotelkeepcr. Oe«.; Mrs.' Mason, the j vouth Peunerill. who supplied the deceased with the rille, Messrs. Pepin rill and Morrison, who discovered the body, and by the police. The following verdict was returned: "That the deceased, Arthur Pcn-y Cooper, came to his death through a bullet wound fmni a pea rifle in the left breast; whether accidentally or -elf-in-flicted there is no evidence to show."
