Speeches " were delivered by Messrs. 1\ I'. Corkill (chairman of the committee), 11. Dempscy (headmaster), 11. Okey, .M.l'., llis \Yorship the Mayor, and the Revs. Evans, A. Guy, X. G. Brooke, and S. S. Osborne. The theme—or, as one of the clerics said, the text—comprised loyalty to home, school, town, country, and Empire, justice, and patl'iotism. A number of the senior e-irls went through a spectacular march very prettily, and a squad of cadets created a line elleet with flag-drill. Cheers for all who had assisted at the function and for the teachers were given, and "God Save the King" brought the proceedings to a close.

FITZKOY SCHOOL. The ceremony of saluting the flag iu honor of Kmpire -Day was duly observed at Kitzroy Schoo] on Friday after-, noon. 'J lie scholars assembled in front of the school, and there being a f'ujjl muster of cadets an imposing appearance was made. The chairman of tlie committee, Mr. ,T. Tisch, together with the secretary, was present, and after the Hag had been raised and saluted an adjournment was made to the headmaster's room, where appropriate addresses were delivered to (.lie scholars, who subsequently gave a spirited rendering of patiiotie songs.
