ACQUIRING OF LANDS. THE CLAN'RICARDE ESTATK. Loudon, May 10. The Court of Appeal at Dublin, in over-ruling Mr. Justice Wylie's decision. declared that in spite of "planters.'' or "farmers planted on estate* in place of evicted tenants,'' offering to dispose of tlieir interests to the Estate Commissioners in order to facilitate the reinstatement of evicted tenants, the Commissioners were debarred from acquiring siith land against the will of ihe la ndlords.
Tlie case arose out of the piO| d acquisition, under the Evicted Tenants Act, 1007, of 4000 acres ol the Clanriearde estate. The Court holds that compulsory acquisition applies only to holdings of new tenants who are not bona tide tenants or cultivating land a- ordinary fanners.
