SUPREME COURT.
AUCKLAND SESSIONS. Per Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, William Blaas, alias Johnston, was found guilty of stealing clothes, a cheque, and a watch and chain from a Maori named Akarana, and was sentenced to two years' imprisonment. James and Alfred Chappell, two brothers, charged with l assaulting Thomas Kashford and robbing him of a watch and chain, were sentenced to two years'. A youth named William Hcarboro, charged with stealing scrap iron valued at £2 10s Pakuranga, was found guilty and remanded for sentence. Daniel Kennedy pleaded guilty to a charge of intimidating and annoying his wife by discharging firearms. Counsel for prisoner stated that proceedings were being taken for a separation order, and Kennedy had agreed to leave New Zealand. Prisoner was admitted to probation for two years, and on entering into tureties, was liberated. A LIFE SENTENCE.
Auckland, Wednesday. In the Supreme Court Alexander Campbell, (13 years of age, pleaded guilty to indecent assault on four little girls. Judge Edwards said the prisoner, in addition to other offences, had served seutences of four years and seven years for indecent assaults. His Honor's intention was that .accused should never again be at large to poison the community with hit filthy practices. He would not order the lash on account of the prisoner's age, but sentenced him to hard labor for seven years on each charge, terras to be cumulative, practically a life sentence.
WELLINGTON SESSIONS. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, Thomas Prisk and Charlotte Prisk, who were convicted yesterday of breaking and entering a shop at Dannevirke, came up for sentence. The male prisoner was sentenced to twelve months' hard labor, and the woman was ordered to come up for sentenced when called upon. A Maori named Huru, alias W.iremu Rowata, charged with theft of jewellery at Maaterton, was found not guilty. Frederick James Jansen, a and James Diggs, a half-caste IJaori, for assault and robbery, were each sentencfd to two years' hard labor. CHRISTCHURCH SESSIONS. Christchurch, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day Philip Ryan was sentenced to five .years' for attempting to commit an unnatural offence.
Frederick Hall was sentenced to life for attempting to murder Alex. J. Mnir at Lyttelton on March 7. William Evans was sentenced to five years on two charges of breaking and, entering and theft; John McClusky was convicted of rape, sentence being deferred pending reference to a law point be submitted to the Court of Appeal. The firemen on the s.s. Papanui, indicted for cargo broaching at Lyttelton, were acquitted.
