Some tit the councillors were 01 opinion that where, by somo unforeseen circumstances, it was necessary to increase the rate, the contributing local authorities should be furnished with a copy of the statement that the Board compiled under section 24 of the Hospital ami Charitable Institutions Act, 188-3, showing how local authorities' contribution* were determined. Such a course would save a considerable amount of unpleasantness and a probable appeal to the Colonial Secretary against tho unjust contribution.
Mr. (jnestioned the good taste of the County Council in a—timing a better knowledge of the Hoard's affairs than was possessed by the ltoard itnlf. The chairman said the county's repre--entative ri on the Board could have explained whv the increased rate was needed.

The manager of the Old People's Home (Mr. A, E. Farrar) reported that there were in the Home 24 male- and 4 females, General health and discipline were good. Patrick Ixeenan left home of his own accord on the 7th lie requested that a drying stove be provided for the laundry. At present, in wet weather, the washing had to be dried in the inmates'' Mlting-room after , bedtime. I MEDICAL REPORT.
T!ie medical superintendent's report lor April stated that 30 patients were admitted. .32 discharged, and two died. 'H remaining in the institution. There were four patients in the annexe, and "lie '-a-e of scarlet fever in the i-olaiion ward. GENERAL.
