ACCLIMATISATION MATTERS.
I To the Editor. Sify—ln your issue of Saturday you publish a paragraph from the .New Plymouth Acclimatisation Society's annual) report that "anglers in Stratford district were lishing in aVw Plymouth waters 011 a ten shilling license.'' it' this statement was made by the chairman of committee or any member of the council it surprise* me. Anyhow, it i> utterly devoid of truth; all the license-holders for the past year in Stratford district lislied oil XI license's, and, by the way, got good bags, owing to the way we have blocked our streams, if the New Plymouth secretary had written to me I should have J been pleased 10 have given him the information, also a point or two on the advantage of importing new strains of pheasants for the beneiit of sport*. Now matters of this kind might cause feeling amongst anglers, and it is just as well that they should know the truth. During the last live years we have released about 3.000 full-grown Loch Levrn trout iu t.he Waipuku stream, the boundary between our districts. How many have tin; 'J'aranaki Society put there? In conchi-ion let 111 c advise the New Ply nmulli Society when they bring down their next report to lie *nre ol what, they put in it, and not listen to the wild ravings of an imagination, or they might say we issued JOs shooting licenses this year. If they will put a brand on their Jisli I'll ad viae our anglers not to catch them next year.— 1 am, &e., C. D. SOLE.
