Mr. !•'. 11. Campbell (Otago) stated tuai his Union did not anticijiate that there v.oilid be a division of the prolils ot tin- lour when it made it„ oiler.

Messix Lenuic and AlcGrath I Southlaud) declared that their lniou was not at the time aware that there would lie a uistribution oi the prolils id' the tour. It would not object to liaving it- snare curtailed if that course were thought a proper one.

Mr. W. .1. McGrath (llawke's May) moved as a further amendment that II) per cent, lie deducted from all Unions charging over 15 per cent, for the line lit their grounds.

Mr. Lusk then moved ,is a further amendment that the matter of the distribution of prolits of the liritish tour lie left in the hands of the Management Committee.

Hales and McGralh were nllowed to withdraw their amendments Mr. Lusk's amendment w.is preferred to the original motion. .Mr. Mclntyre, on liehall of Ihe Wellington Union, mured: "Thai in all matches placed under the direct control of the New' Zealand Rugby Union (excepting the present Briti-h tour) half the net prolils be paid lo the Union in whose district the mulch is played. In the ease ol a team from beyond New ! Zealand touring the country, one half of the net prolils obtained as a result of such tour be divided between the Unions in whose districts the matches have been played'." Mr. Weir moved as an amendment that the question be left to the Management Committee. The amendment was accepted. Mr. l'ownall, on behalf of the Waiiganui Union, moved: "That the New Zealand Rugby Union delete the interest clauses from all mortgages given by the various Unions lo the New Zealand Rugby Unions on account of loans advanced, and that all such loan* in future be free of interest." The resolution was lost by a substantial majority. ACCIDENT INSURANCE.

The Tarauaki delegate (Mr. Humphries) moved: -That the New Zealand Union set up a committee to consider the question of instituting a scheme of accident insurance to cover all footballers in the Dominion under its jurisdiction" Tie motion was carried, and Messrs. Cargill and Humphries were appointed a sub-committee to draw up a scheme lo be referred to the Management Committee.

There should be good eoinpetition for places ill the Otago team against the Anglo-Welslmien at the end of the present month (sav H "Full-back"). Several of Otago's best players have left since last season, and "Full-back" think thai the team will lie somewhat weak behind the scrum, altnmigli fairly strong forward. Booth, (iilray, Adams, and Macpherson luive all left.

The members of the British team will wear distinctive nuinliers to aid recognition.

"All-Black" Stead is reported to be playing up to hi h previous best I'urin. of the backs in Southland this season he is princeps facile. Phil Jacobs, e\-\Vellinglnn. Knglaikl ..a 1 1 i Heater's Telegram Company has re-i|iie-ted the various unions which are to play against the Anglo-Welshmen, to supply it with a. list of their prominent players, and their records. These are to lie posted Home, to the big newspapers of the United Kingdom so that the subeditors there may be able to extend the. necessarily short cablegrams which will be sent to them as the tour progresses.

An old Sydney 'Varsity player at present at Oxford, sends the Referee some French Rugby phrases. The team card (he .says) reveals the following positions:—Arriere (full back), trois-quarts (three-quarters), demis (halves), avants (lorwards). The reporter calls a try "un essai,'' a goal 'but," ball "ballon.' and a serum is elevated to the dignity ol a "melee." Out of a few criticism--un the match I recollect the following: "U- demon liirkett," and "Ces diablcs Anglais." "Quel coup!" is the favorite ejaculation of the spectators. The nearest translation one can get for tin.-, in Australian Rugby parlance, would be, "What a bosker!" For myself, I rejoiced in the proud title of "le redoubtable Anglais" in the columns of one dailv.

In the match under Northern I'uion rules between New South Wales and Nuw Zealand on May 2, 11. Messenger place-kicked one goal from licyond halfway, and others from the vicinity of toiich from five lo ten feet short of half-wav.

L Corbett, the ex-Canterbury representative front-ranker, has decided to play again. The Olago rep. team will go on lour about the middle of August. Its engagements will include matches against Canterbury, Wellington, Wairarapa.l la wke's Hay, and Auckland, with possibly a match against Xorth Otago en route. Kiighy is making great strides in France, and in the international contents this season some of the French players gave excellent displays. According to one writer, however, they expected nothing but the orthodox movements of defence, and consequently tiabe and Trew. of Wales, puzzled them very much by passing in Irom centre three-quarter i instead of out. Thus a writer in the Leeds Mercury: —"lt must be considered that the tour of Ihe professional All lllacks litis been a great success, and has proved of educational value, not onlv to tin- New Zcnlau.lers themselves, but lo the Xorihern I'niou clubs and to the public Had Ihe pronmlers of the All macks' tour known as much before they sailed of the -tivngdi of Northern Unionism as they know now. they would probably have brought a dozen more men with them, and would thus Lave been less severely hit at times wlien illness deprived them of leading phi vers like .Smith.
