THE EDUCATION BILL. London, May 15. The Unionists have decided to support Lord Balcarres' motion for the rejection of the Education Bill. THE NAVAL POLICY. London, May 15. Sir Edward Grey, Foreign Secretary, speaking at the Iron and Steel Institute's dinner, declared that Britain's aim was peace, but the naval expenditure was bound to depend upon the activity of other Powers. "Our Navy," he said, "is a navy for defence. If ever it fails to such a degree as to be unable to copo with any probable combination that may be brought against it, our very independence and integrity will be jeopardised."
A BYE-ELECTION. London, May 15. The bye-election for the Newport division of Shropshire to fill the vacancy occasioned by the death of ColW. Kenydn Slaney, resulted in the return of the Unionist candidate, Mr. Stnnier. The voting was as follows: Mr. Stanier (U.) .. .. fi32B Mr. F. Niolson (L.) .. 4377
At the general election Colonel Ken-yon-balney defeated Mr Slaney by 4348 votes to 4682. ' f
