THE GREEN ISLAND STIUKE. Per Press Association. Dunedin, Saturday. At a meeting of the miners who are on strike it was decided that the men in No. 2 mine should not go .to work until the check inspectors made their inspections, and that the men should he paid for all time lost. The owners refused to allow the check inspection, suggesting instead that, if the mine were shown to be unsafe and they were wrong in refusing to allow the inspection, they should pay all expenses and wages. The Inspector of .Mines has urged the men to accept this, and they will probably agree at a meeting to be held to-night. Christie Bros, lodged £ll (is 3d with, the Labor Department to pav expenses and wages yesterday. It is understood that the -Mines Dopartment will take proceedings against the linn for refusing to allow the check ' inspectors into the mine. 1
