EGMONT COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Egniont County Council met on | Sth May. Present: Messrs. Fleming (chairman), Maxwell, Brcnnan, Coll'ey, Warner, Dudley, Coimglcn, and Burgess. Renewals of' slaughter licenses were authorised to Messrs. Dudley, Perrott,: Black, Poynton, Lawn, Phillips, and Landy. A letter was read from the Awatuna Co-operative Dairy Company offering to pay half the cost of metalling the approach to their creamery. It was resolved that the Council could not alter its previous decision. The Tiirannki Hospital Board notified that the levy for the current year had Deen fixed at. I)d per £IOO. Mr. Burgess explained that the Board had to increase the levy because last year it started with a credit of £llOO and finished with only £l5O. The Parihnkn Road Board intimated its willingness to assist in the matter of getting the Parihaka road opened up. The Public Trustee, writing iu reply to n query about rates on sections 0 and S. blocks 14 and 13, said he intended to subdivide these lands and issue occupation licenses to individual natives, when rate rt would lie collected from them. At present lie, had no funds from •vyhieli to pav rates. A request from Mr. Keasberry for a dangerous culvert in front of his properl v to be repaired was declined. Tile Bank of New Zealand notified Hint the overdraft limit for the. current year would be £3248. This limit having been reached, it was decided to instruct the foreman to curtail expenses.
