Vehement opposition to unification as a lonn of the closer union of South Africa has arisen in Natal, where the Pretoria Conference is accused of sluunclesaly attempting to rush the question. The Natal Mercury declares that Nate! ia able to stand alone and refuses to be coerced. NATIONAL CONVENTION ARRANGED. Pretoria, May 11. Received 12th, 12j a.ui.' The l'retoria Conference has arranged a national convention to deal wiir, the question of union. It consists of twelve delegates Iruui Cain- Colony, eight from Transvaal, and live each' from Natal and Orangia. London, May 11. Received 12th, I»J> aju. The Times* Johannesbuig correspondent says that the conference desires to concentrate all its power on deciding the course of events after the convention is is the bands of the Government «»d not in Parliament's hands.
